Detailed Job Description:
Hyperion Essbase Business Intelligence Analyst
Responsibilities:
You will work on the following: Hyperion Essbase 7.x and
System 9 BI+
Develop and customize planning and forecasting
applications including, but not limited to budget
templates and reports
Design, develop and deploy enterprise scale and Essbase
applications to meet ad hoc analysis and reporting needs
Application Development - Codes, tests and documents
appropriate data processes, stored procedures or
reporting & analytic applications using industry proven
best-practices
Develop Hyperion Essbase outline design and reports
Create necessary objects to meet report requirements
Coordinate and deploy Hyperion applications and report
changes to the production environment Develop and
execute unit, system integration, and user acceptance
test plans and plays an active role in project rollouts
Create and maintain metadata and support documentation
Operational investigates and assist in the resolution of
any day-to-day Hyperion Essbase application issues
User security and administration
Fulfill complex ad-hoc query/analysis/reporting requests
submitted by business users
Write business rules, essbase calc scripts, data loads
from GL
Modify existing Essbase & Planning applications to meet
ongoing future business requirements
Optimize and tune existing Essbase applications to
enhance application performance and maintenance of
Essbase & Report server on Unix, Planning on NT.
Required Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer
Science, or related equivalent work experience
MBA a plus
Development/administration experience with Hyperion
Essbase/Planning
Must have extensive (3-5 years) Essbase development
experience, including building enterprise scale Essbase
applications
2+ years experience with System 9 applications (Essbase,
Financial Reporting, and Web Analysis)
Must demonstrate knowledge of Essbase best practices in
application design and deployment as well as system
upgrades
3-5 years experience in the creation, modification, and
support of Essbase calculation and report scripts, load
rules, Esscmds, and report scripts
3-5 years experience in Essbase ETL (extract, transfer,
load) processes from relational databases
Proven ability to transform a complex set of business
requirements into intuitive, scalable Essbase
applications to solve business problems
Advanced Excel experience required, including proven
ability to utilize VBA programming to augment planning,
analytical, and reporting systems
3+ years of experience with Hyperion Planning, Business
Rules, HAL, Analyzer (Web Analysis), and Hyperion
Reports
Must have worked as a Hyperion Essbase/Hyperion Planning
Enterprise Administrator
Must be able to perform system maintenance including
accounts, names, logic, security, etc.
Proficient use of Excel in conjunction with data from
Hyperion
Comprehension of financial analysis and/or accounting
3-5 years of experience with Unix, Sqlplus
